First draft of Mar’s Pretty Clover Knight form, Lucky Wizard Princess Mar. Need to change colors and include full-body image so you can see her sneakers.

Hey guess what.

I’m making a magical girl blog called ✤ PRETTY CLOVER KNIGHTS ✤ with the wonderful Rachel and Kachi !! This is my girl, Mar, or Maria Susana Velasquez del Mar. The story is about 3 girls who get sucked into the Clover Kingdom via a magical Clover Tales tome, and in the Clover Kingdom, they must protect the Holy Clover Princess. At the moment we’ll be posting up our concepts and sketches, and eventually we’ll be drawing out their adventures in comic form !!

I am so glad they finally brought this comic to the US.

Ohhhhhhhhh, the best ever ! Kaitou Ace is such a cool character, too.

Paul’s art is up

There is a post on the website about Paul Maybury’s art that is now for sale in the store and his commission prices.

Thanks for all of the Tubmblr love, everybody.

Hey, all of the art mentioned before is up on the store. Please take a look! My computer seems to be at death’s door, so any purchases would be greatly appreciated.

Check it out!

Ohh, if you like beautiful art (and I know you do), you should get some for yourself by Paul Maybury !! It’ll also go to a good cause, which is Paul and his computer.

Spera: Volume I is finally, truly, actually, officially in stores today. If your local comic shop or bookstore doesn’t have a copy, they should be able to order one in. If you don’t have a comic store near you, you can order a copy from most online retailers.

Above you can check out the front cover (which has some tasteful gold foil in person!) and a page from Emily Carroll’s chapter.

buy this immediately and then read it immediately.

No, but really. I got my Amazon-ordered Spera book two days after Christmas, and I read the entire thing in one sitting. I’ve been following the story since its wee early days as a webcomic. Having it in book format, with so many beautiful renditions of Pira, Lono, and Yonder is absolute magic.

started coloring this thing a while ago! maybe i’ll come back to it, not sure yet…

I AM GOING TO DRAW EVERY FANART

jonabar:

I’d posted this before, but here it is gain. It’s concept art VGE did for a story I was outlining a few months ago.

The story is called A Bear & A Bird, and it follows a little bird flying south for the winter that crash lands in a forest and becomes separated from her flock. There, she befriends a bear cub, who has been preparing for his fight against The Winter, which he believes to be more akin to a monster or a ghoul of sorts.

Now that I’m done with the script for Cueyar Elementary, I can get back to working on this. Getting excited. Yes.

OH HEY

I’m working on a handful of comics projects at the moment (some more heartily than others), and this is one of them! A Bear & A Bird is probably the cutest out of all of them. I feel like it’s gonna be a comic that feels geared to children in terms of style and dialogue, but we plan on keeping it wonderfully bittersweet.

I’ve also been heavily contemplating doing the comic in collage, which, though I haven’t done it in years, will always be my preferred method of art.

Bowman is a good friend. A good musician. An excellent human being. He deserves all of your dollars in exchange of music.

do it for love

Interested in being part of Spera: Volume II? We’re currently looking for a colourist for Timothy Weaver’s 20-page chapter, and the colours will need to be done by February 26th. Please send any colouring samples to josh.will.tierney (@) gmail.com if you think you’d like to take a crack at it.

One of y’all out there should do this RIGHT NOW.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading during the end of 2011 — from Ten Cent Plague (a great book on the history of comics) to a 70’s shoujo/horror manga, The Bride of Deimos, that I found used in a comic book store in Kansas City. I recommend everything pictured above.

Happy 2012 !
